FAQ

What size is a Discord pfp?

Discord's help center doesn't publish a pixel size for profile pictures. Discord shows avatars as a circle, so start from a square image. We suggest 512 × 512: it's small as a file but leaves room for high-density screens. That's our suggestion, not a Discord rule.

How do I make a circle pfp?

Choose an image above, keep the shape on Circle, then drag the photo and zoom until your face sits inside the circle. Pick a size and download as PNG. The corners outside the circle are transparent, so the file is already round.

Does this tool upload my image?

No. The image is read and cropped by your browser on your own device, and the download is created there too. Your image is never sent to a server. You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and crop an image. No request carries it. The only request the page makes on its own is an anonymous page-view count with no cookies and no file data (see privacy).

Can I crop an animated GIF pfp?

Yes. Drop in an animated GIF and download it as GIF. Every frame gets the same crop, rotation, flip and border, and the frame timing and loop setting are kept. In a circle, the corners are transparent. Limits: up to 300 frames, and up to 1024 × 1024 output. A GIF pixel is either fully see-through or fully solid, so the circle edge is slightly harder than in a PNG. Long GIFs can take several seconds to make. Whether a site plays an animated avatar is up to that site.

Can I get a transparent background?

Yes. Choose Circle and download as PNG or WebP, and everything outside the circle is transparent. JPG can't store transparency, so with JPG the corners are filled with the background color you pick. How a site displays transparent corners is up to that site.
