Discord Timestamp Generator
Pick a date and time and copy a Discord timestamp code. Discord shows it to every reader in their own time zone, so "8 pm my time" just works. All nine styles from Discord's docs, each with a live preview. You can also paste a <t:…> code to convert it back.

How to use Discord timestamps
- Pick the date and time. Type it, or press Now, In 1 hour or another quick time. If the time is in another time zone (an event in New York, say), choose that zone.
- Choose a style. The preview shows how the code will look. Short Time (
t) is good for "today at 8 pm", Full Date (F) for announcements, and Relative (R) for a countdown. - Copy and paste it into Discord. Press Copy and paste the code into a message, channel topic or event description. Discord swaps the code for the time, shown in each reader's own time zone.
All Discord timestamp formats
A Discord timestamp is <t:TIMESTAMP:STYLE>. TIMESTAMP is a Unix time in seconds, and STYLE is one of the letters below. Discord's documentation says timestamps "display the given timestamp in the user's timezone and locale". The example outputs are Discord's own, for 1618953630.
| Style | Name | Discord's example | Code |
|---|---|---|---|
t | Short Time | 16:20 | <t:1618953630:t> |
T | Medium Time | 16:20:30 | <t:1618953630:T> |
d | Short Date | 20/04/2021 | <t:1618953630:d> |
D | Long Date | April 20, 2021 | <t:1618953630:D> |
f | Long Date, Short Time (default) | April 20, 2021 at 16:20 | <t:1618953630:f> |
F | Full Date, Short Time | Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 16:20 | <t:1618953630:F> |
s | Short Date, Short Time | 20/04/2021, 16:20 | <t:1618953630:s> |
S | Short Date, Medium Time | 20/04/2021, 16:20:30 | <t:1618953630:S> |
R | Relative Time | 4 years ago | <t:1618953630:R> |
With no style letter, <t:1618953630> uses the default, f.

Why the preview can differ a little from Discord
Discord formats each timestamp with the reader's own language setting, so the words, the date order and the 12- or 24-hour clock depend on the person reading. The preview here uses your browser's language (your browser's language), which is usually close but not always identical. The time itself is exact: it is the same moment for everyone. The relative style is rounded, so "in 2 hours" here may read slightly differently in Discord near a boundary.
FAQ
How do I make a Discord timestamp?
Pick the date and time above, then press Copy next to the style you want. You get a code such as <t:1618953630:F>. Paste it into a Discord message and Discord shows it as a date and time.
Does everyone see the time in their own time zone?
Yes. Discord's documentation says a timestamp displays "in the user's timezone and locale". You post one code, and a reader in London and a reader in Tokyo each see their own local time. Use "Preview as a reader in" above to check what someone else will see.
How do I convert a Discord timestamp back to a date?
Paste the code, or a whole message with codes in it, into "Convert a Discord timestamp to a time". Each code is shown as a date and time in your time zone and in UTC, with its style name. Press "Load into the generator" to make other styles from it.
How do I make a countdown in Discord?
Use the Relative style, R. It shows as "in 3 hours" before the time and "3 hours ago" after it. Combine it with a full date, for example with our F+R row, so readers see both the exact time and how long is left.
What is the Unix timestamp in the code?
It is the number of seconds since 1 January 1970 at 00:00 UTC. Discord expects seconds, not milliseconds. If you paste a 13-digit number (milliseconds, as JavaScript uses), the converter divides it by 1000 and says so.
What happens if I pick a time that doesn't exist, like during a clock change?
When clocks go forward, an hour is skipped. If you pick a time in that hour, the tool moves it forward to the first real time and tells you. When clocks go back, an hour happens twice; the tool uses the first one.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The codes are made by your browser on your own device. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool. The page counts visits and copies (tool name only) with analytics that sets no cookies, and never sends the times you pick or the text you paste (see privacy).
