Passport Photo Maker

Crop your photo to the size on the official passport photo page, line up the head with the size guides, and save one photo or a 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm print sheet at 300 DPI. Every size here comes from the government's own page, linked below. This tool cannot tell you whether a photo will be accepted: the official rules decide.

Green lines: put the top of the head on the solid line and the chin inside the green band. That gives a chin-to-crown height inside the official range. Yellow line: put both eyes on it to keep the head level.

Your photo never leaves your device. It is cropped in your browser. We count visits and finished downloads (tool name only) with analytics that sets no cookies.

2Country and size

The official rules decide. This tool crops and sizes your photo; it does not check your face, expression, lighting or background, and it cannot promise a photo will be accepted.

Background (optional)

Choose a photo first. This only works when the background is already plain: it does not cut you out of a busy background, and there is no AI.

How to make a passport photo

  1. Take the photo. Stand in front of a plain wall in even light, face the camera, keep a neutral expression and leave space around your head and shoulders. Read your country's rules first: some say who must take the photo.
  2. Choose the country. The size, head-size range and background rule are shown with a link to the official page they come from.
  3. Line it up. Drag and zoom until the top of the head is on the solid green line and the chin is inside the green band. Use Straighten so both eyes sit on the yellow line.
  4. Download. Save one photo at the exact pixel size for 300 DPI, or a print sheet. Print at 100% (actual size), then measure one photo with a ruler before you use it.

Countries and where the sizes come from

Only sizes we have read on the issuing government's own page are offered. Each was verified on 27 October 2026. Rules change, so open the official page before you print.

Why some countries are not in the list

For these, we read the official page, and its rules say a photo cropped or printed this way would not meet them:

Not verified yet: the United States (2 × 2 in), Pakistan, and a single EU-wide rule. We have not yet read their sizes on the official pages, so they are not offered and no figures are given here.

    About the background

There is no automatic background removal and no AI. If the edge of your photo is already one plain colour, "Even out a plain background" can replace the pixels that touch the edge and are close to that colour with white, light grey or a colour you pick. It cannot separate you from a busy background, and it can catch hair or clothes of a similar colour, so check the preview closely. Some countries do not allow any editing of the photo: if yours does not, leave it off.

    FAQ

    Will my photo be accepted?

We cannot promise that. This tool sets the size and helps you line up the head, but the official rules also cover lighting, expression, glasses, background, paper and sometimes who takes the photo. The passport office decides, so read the official page linked for your country.

What size is the downloaded photo?

For a 35 × 45 mm photo it is 413 × 531 pixels, which is 35 × 45 mm when printed at 300 DPI. The file also records 300 DPI, which print software can use to size it. Always print at 100% or actual size.

    How do I print passport photos on a 4 × 6 photo?

Line up your photo, choose 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm under Print sheet, and download. You get several copies with thin cut lines on one sheet. Order it as a normal 4 × 6 or 10 × 15 print with no cropping or borders, then cut along the lines. Check your country's paper and printing rules: some do not accept home or inkjet prints.

Why is there no US 2 × 2 inch size?

We only list sizes we have read on the government's own page, and we have not yet verified the US rules on the State Department's site. Until we have, the US size is not offered, rather than given from memory.

Can it remove or change my background?

Only if the background is already plain. Then it can even it out to one colour. It does not remove a busy background, because that needs AI cut-out, which this tool does not use.

Does this tool upload my photo?

No. Your photo is opened and cropped by your browser on your own device and is never sent to a server. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool. The page counts visits and finished downloads (tool name only) with analytics that sets no cookies, and no image data is ever sent (see privacy).
