Twitch Username Generator

Type a word or two you like, pick a style, and get a list of Twitch name ideas. Every name is 4 to 25 characters, the length Twitch's help centre gives for usernames, and uses only letters, numbers and underscores. Copy the ones you like or save them to a favourites list. This tool cannot see which names are taken; the "Is it taken?" box shows how to check on Twitch.

Is it taken? Check on Twitch

This tool cannot check availability. Only Twitch knows which names are free. Twitch's help centre says that when you type a new username in your account settings, "If your desired username is available a green checkmark will be present." The sign-up form on twitch.tv checks the name too.

How to pick a Twitch username

      1. Start with a word that is yours. Your nickname, a pet, a game you always play, or a word from your stream's theme. Type up to three, separated by commas.
      2. Pick a style. Gamer, cute, cool, funny, fantasy, aesthetic or clean. Pick several to mix them.
      3. Keep it short and easy to say. Set "Longest name" lower, say 12, for names people can remember and type into chat.
      4. Save the ones you like, then check them on Twitch. Press the star to keep a name, then try it in Twitch's sign-up form or username setting.

      Twitch username rules

Twitch's help centre says a username must be "between 4-25 characters in length", and that usernames "must be at least 4 characters long". Every name this tool makes fits that.

The Twitch help pages we read do not list which characters are allowed. To be safe, this tool only uses the letters A to Z, numbers and underscores, and never starts or ends a name with an underscore. That is our own cautious rule, not a quote from Twitch; Twitch's sign-up form has the final word.

Twitch also has content rules for names. Its Safety Center lists what usernames may not include, such as hateful terms, sexual references, drug references and impersonation. The word lists here avoid those topics, but a name made from your own keywords is your responsibility.

      Username or display name?

Twitch says "your display name is a change in capitalization from your username", and that display names "can be changed at any time". So lunafoxplays can show as LunaFoxPlays. The names here are written in that mixed case so they are easy to read. A username itself can only be changed once every 60 days.

Why a name can look free but still be unavailable

If twitch.tv/name opens a channel, the name is taken. If it shows "page not found", the name may still be held: Twitch says names of channels banned by Twitch are "permanently inaccessible", and names given up by non-Partnered accounts take "at least 180 days" before anyone can claim them. The green checkmark in Twitch's own form is the only real answer.

      FAQ

Can this tool tell me if a Twitch name is available?

No. Checking needs Twitch's own systems, and this page does not contact Twitch. Type the name into Twitch's sign-up form, or into the username field in your Twitch settings, and look for the green checkmark.

How long can a Twitch username be?

Between 4 and 25 characters, according to Twitch's "Create an Account" help page. Use "Shortest name" and "Longest name" above to narrow it further.

Can a Twitch username have spaces or symbols?

Twitch's help pages we read don't list the allowed characters. Names here use only letters, numbers and underscores, which avoids spaces and symbols. Use "Check a name against the rules" to test a name you made up.

      Where are my favourites saved?

Only in this browser, using local storage on your device. They are not sent anywhere, and they disappear if you clear your browser data or use a private window. Press Copy all to keep them somewhere else.

      Does this use AI?

No. Names are put together in your browser from word lists that are part of this page, plus your keywords. Press Generate again for a new mix.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the tool. The page counts visits and copies (tool name only) with analytics that sets no cookies, and never sends your keywords or names (see privacy). Links to Twitch only open Twitch if you click them.
